The journalist for Al-Ghadeer satellite television was killed while covering fighting between the Iraqi security forces and militants of the so-called Islamic State (IS) in the Muqdadiyah area north of Baghdad, according to media reports quoting their employers and officials.

Two more journalists, Mustafa Hamid and Qusay Sahib from Iraqiya state television were wounded, the head of its Diyala provincial office, Uday Abdelkarim said.

Accounts differed on the incident, with some sources saying shellfire hit Muqdadiyah itself, while others reported a bombing and clashes north of the town.
