Two Media Staff Killed in Road Blast outside Mosul

Media reports said that a roadside explosion in the Iraqi city of Mosul killed Kurdish journalist Bakhtiyar Addad who was working as a fixer for French journalists, Stephan Villeneuve, Véronique Robert and Samuel Forey.

Stephan Villeneuve, a video journalist who had covered a number of conflicts across the world, was fatally wounded and died from his wounds at a hospital on a UN military base. He was in Mosul to film a piece on the battle of Mosul for French news programme Envoye Special, aired on public television channel France 2. His colleagues were injured in the blast. The journalists were accompanying Iraqi special forces during the battle to reconquer Mosul from the Islamic State (EI) group, AFP reported.
