The body of the director of the local television station 6TV, who had been missing after being abducted on 18 May in the city of Nueva Italia was found in the western state of Michoacán. Media reports quoted state officials as saying that Adame’s burnt remains had been located near Nuevo Italia and identified with DNA testing.

Adame reportedly covered local politics but avoided reporting on the criminal activities of the drug barons. He and his wife were detained by the local police in 2016 for covering a protest outside city hall, according to media reports.
