The 28 - year-old journalist, also known Gabow, was killed when an explosive which had been planted underneath his car's driving seat blew up in Mogadishu's Madina district. According to media reports, Ibrahim had taken a break from work on Monday in order to spend time with his children. The explosion occurred when he got back into his car.

Mohamed Ibrahim was a news anchor working for privately-owned Kalsan TV, reporting primarily on political issues.
