The Saudi columnist for the Washington Post visited the consulate of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul, Turkey on 2 October to arrange paperwork for his marriage and disappeared. After a fortnight and following reports that he had been killed inside, Saudi authorities confirmed the news, blaming the crime on rogue agents who allegedly acted without the approval nor knowledge of the rulers of the oil-rich kingdom.
