The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) joins the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) in raising concern for the treatment of journalists by law enforcement agencies in Karachi on February 2. Three Yemeni journalists, who are held captive by the Houthis since last June, are reported to have been tortured on 30 January, according to the Yemen Journalists’ Syndicate (YJS), an IFJ affiliate. The International and European Federations of Journalists, (IFJ) and (EFJ), strongly condemn physical attacks against IMC TV reporter and cameraman Refik Tekin and other press correspondents who were reporting from Cizre (Southeast of Turkey) on 20 January about the ongoing state of emergency. According to reports, seven members of the Kaboora Production, which produces content for TOLO TV, Lemar TV, Arman FM, Arakozia FM and TOLONews of the MOBY Media Group, were killed when the bus was targeted in the bomb attack at 5pm at Darul Aman Road in south western Kabul.Reports said that a suicide bomber rammed a motorcycle into the bus before detonating a bomb. They included 28-year-old Jawad Hussaini, who was a video editor at TOLO TV. More than two dozen others, including women and children, were injured in the attack. Yemeni journalist Almigdad Mojalli was killed on 17 January in an air raid by the Saudi-led coalition in the capital, Sana’a, according to news reports. The Yemeni freelance journalist was killed in a raid by the Saudi-led coalition on the capital city, Sanaa, under Houthis rebels’ control. Mojalli was hit by shrapnel as a missile slammed into the capital's southern Jaref suburb while he was covering air strikes, according to AFP quoting the victim’s colleague, photojournalist Bahir Hameed. The International Federation of Journalists condemns the attack by local police on three journalists in Suqian, in Jiangsu province in north-eastern China on January 12. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) condemns the attack on the Islamabad office of the Pakistani television channel ARY News on Wednesday, January 13. The IFJ demands an immediate investigation into the attack by authorities. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and its affiliate the Palestinian Journalists’ syndicate (PJS) are deeply concerned over the health of a Palestinian journalist who has been on hunger strike for almost 50 days to protest against his imprisonment without trial by Israeli forces. Mohammad Al-Qiq, 33 and father of two, is a reporter for the Saudi news channel AlMajd. Journalist Saif Tallal and cameraman Hassan al-Anbaki working for Sharqiya TV channel were shot dead on 12 January by militiamen near Baquba, the capital of Diyala province in Iraq. They were the first media workers killed in 2016. Tallal and al-Anbaki were killed on their way back from covering attacks on a mosque in the Muqdadiyah area. Beritan Canözer, a female journalist working for the news agency JINHA, was arrested in Diyarbakir (Turkey) on 19 December 2015 for allegedly “aiding a terrorist organisation”. Ms Canözer was first taken into custody on 16 December when covering a protest against curfews imposed by Turkish authorities in neighborhoods of the Sur district of Diyarbakir.
