The AFP Kabul driver Mohammad was killed in a suicide bombing attack in the Afghan capital while he was on his way to the AFP bureau for his night shift and was changing public transport near the airport when the suicide bomber blew himself up. Media reports said that the attack was aimed at Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum who had returned from exile and was greeted by his supporters at the capital's international airport. But the former war lord’s armoured vehicle had already whisked him away. Akhtar was among 23 people killed in the attack for which the so-called Islamic State claimed responsibility.
