The online photojournalist who wrote for a news website Ojinga Noticias was shot while he ate at a taco stand in the Mexican town of Ojinaga, in the state of Chihuahua.

In a statement, the website said that the 38-year-old journalist was shot at least 18 times with an assault rifle and described his murder as an attack against journalism.

The gunmen stole his camera and a woman who was with him was not wounded in the attack, it added.
