The radio presented for La Ribereña, also known by his pseudonym ' Randy' was attacked by unidentified assailants during the show he hosted called “Hablan los pueblos” (The villages speak) in the province of Camana, Peru. He suffered severe head injuries and was taken to hospital but died before arriving there.
The journalist and his colleagues, who were often critical of the local authorities, had been receiving threats for more than a month and had reported them to the security authorities.
